Fiona Dalton CMS Web Site

Brief

Design a CMS website using Joomla. Use a template that was designed and code by me. I decided to use this project to design a website for a friend of mine who is trying to start a wedding singer business. The contact form I hand coded.

Purpose

The purpose of the website is to advertise Fiona Dalton and her wedding singer business.
The site needs to be elegant and enticing. It needs to have a detailed list of what Fiona does and samples of her work. Fiona supplied me with all of the information. She is in the process of getting some videos and recordings done and once she has these we will post them up also. Fiona had quite a clear idea of what she wanted to I tried to keep within her brief as much as possible

Summary

The design of the website is elegant. It provides users with all the information about Fiona that they need. I used Fiona's existing business card as a base for the design and used the colours and typography from this to form the basis of the design. While at the moment we are missing videos of Fiona all the other data on the site is current and relevant.
Fiona is delighted with the site and intends to go live with it once the videos and audio snippets are ready to go. Fiona should be able to maintain the site herself and only need my help when she wants to make major changes.

The Grove Bar CMS Web Site

Brief

Design a CMS website using Joomla. Use a template that was downloaded from the internet. I decided to redesign the original website that I had made for the Grove Bar so that the owners could update the site themselves in the easiest way. There were a few plug-ins used for the site including a Facebook plugin and an opening hours one. The contact form I hand coded.

Purpose

The purpose of the website is to advertise the Grove Bar and all it has to offer.
The target audience of the site is local people or tourists wanting to know about the local bar. They are people who want to eat at the bar or find out what events are happening locally.

Summary

The design of the website takes into account the different things that people want to find out about the bar. Delgany and Kilpedder where the bar is located is a small community. The owner wants to be able to advertise what is happening in the bar as well as what is happening in the local community.
The bar serves a craft beer of the month. This is listed on the drinks menu page and can be updated easily from the back end of the website.
Food. The bar has a good pub grub menu. The menu is displayed online as well as the times that the food is served.
Music. Most Saturday nights there is music in the bar. The owners can update these and they will appear in chronological order and disappear after the event has passed.
Clubs. Local associations can give details of their events to the owners who will then post the details online. This will bring more traffic to the website with people looking for local events.

The Grove Bar Web Site

Brief

Design a web site for the Grove Bar in Delgany. There was no real brief for this so I had to design everything from the logo to the colour scheme. The site is currently with the owners of the bar who are seeing what changes they would like to make before going live later this year.

Vavasseur Fleur College assignment Web Site

Brief

Only 5 pages were needed to be created for this site. Please see the flow chart below to see the ones that I developed.

Purpose

The purpose of the website is to advertise and sell the products available from Vavasseur Fleur florist shop. There is an existing website for this shop but I feel that it needs to be modernised and enhanced.
The target audience of the site is anyone wanting to buy flowers in the Dublin area. This would suit a broad demographic of people from young to old and in many different walks of life.
From an SEO point of the view the current website isn’t listed on the first seven pages of a Google search for “florist Dublin”. It comes up fourth if you do a search for “florist Dublin 11”.

Summary

The design of the website takes into account the different ways that people shop for flowers. For some users the cost of the flowers is the main issue and for others they are shopping for a specific occasion and they need assistance to choose. Some users may have a favourite flower or want to know what flowers are in season.
The value added content of how to care for your flowers. This is a great facility for customers. It goes through how to maintain your flowers and prolong their lives by suggesting to the user what to do each day in general. There will also be a list special needs of a number of flowers. This being a florist website it will be bright and colourful but with a simple background it should attract people to the page and help them to make a good buy. The user should feel comfortable with the selection, range and quality available on the web site.
The JavaScript will enhance the website by displaying images optimally and allowing users to navigate through the images and the site as they want. Some users may just want to arrive at the website and just buy the first flowers they see.
By using the alt tags on the images this should increase the SEO. Design a web site for the Grove Bar in Delgany. There was no real brief for this so I had to design everything from the logo to the colour scheme. The site is currently with the owners of the bar who are seeing what changes they would like to make before going live later this year.
